About

A specialist education company for a workforce issue that has been ignored for too long.

Midlife Works was founded on a simple observation: employers want to support people through menopause, but almost nobody has been taught how. We close that gap with education that is rigorous, practical and built for the way organizations actually work.

Mission

To make menopause something every workplace handles well — through education, not guesswork.

Vision. A national standard where menopause education is as ordinary a part of workforce development as safety training or leadership development — and where employees, managers and HR share the same accurate picture.

Educational philosophy. Adults learn by doing, discussing and applying. Our programs use active learning, realistic scenarios, formative knowledge checks and practical tools, grounded in universal design so they work for every learner. Content is modular, so what employees learn, managers build on, and HR operationalizes.

Where we work. On-site across North Carolina — the Piedmont Triad, the Research Triangle, Charlotte and Asheville — and virtually for employers nationwide.

Jenna Sorrells, Ed.D., MPH

Founder & Principal Educator

Dr. Sorrells is an educator, public health professional and workforce development executive. She holds a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from High Point University, with a concentration in administration and strategic leadership and a focus on continuous improvement, and a Master of Public Health in health education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

She has taught health education as full-time and adjunct faculty at Appalachian State University, Greensboro College and Winston-Salem State University; served as a school administrator leading a staff of 68; and has led national workforce development initiatives — building employer partnerships, training pathways and educational programs with companies and institutions across the country. Her doctoral research applied improvement science to well-being programming, the same discipline that underpins how Midlife Works evaluates its work.

She is also co-founder of Her Rhythms, a separate women's wellness company. That work keeps her close to the research and to the people living this transition — and clear about the line Midlife Works holds between education and medical care.

Dr. Sorrells is not a physician, nurse practitioner or licensed clinician. Clinical content in Midlife Works programs is reviewed by a qualified clinical reviewer before delivery.

Values

What we hold ourselves to.

Evidence before opinion

We cite our sources, date them, and say plainly where the research is still developing. No invented statistics, no borrowed outrage.

Education, not treatment

We teach people how to understand menopause and find good care. We never diagnose, prescribe or give individual medical advice.

Inclusive by design

Programs are built for mixed-gender rooms and for every person who experiences menopause. Support is a team responsibility.

Workforce-first

We think like an employer: audiences, schedules, managers, policies and budgets — not a wellness talk retrofitted to a workplace.

Respect for variation

There is no single menopause story. We avoid stereotypes about age, gender or capability, and we design for difference.

Measured claims

We evaluate knowledge, confidence and perceived support. We do not promise turnover reductions or ROI we cannot prove.

Our framework

Assess. Educate. Implement. Evaluate.

  1. 01

    Assess

Understand organizational readiness, existing resources, and what your workforce actually needs to know.

  2. 02

    Educate

Deliver audience-specific learning for employees, managers and HR — evidence-based, inclusive, and built for adults at work.

  3. 03

    Implement

Support resource navigation, manager practice, and action planning so the learning becomes workplace practice.

  4. 04

    Evaluate

Measure knowledge, confidence, and perceived support — honestly, without overclaiming business impact.
